Sustainable management plan
The management plan for a forest area brings together all the studies and documents necessary to implement sustainable exploitation, integrating the economic, ecological, and social dimensions.
The first step consists of a satellite reconnaissance of the concessions, in order to acquire a precise vision of the territory. Once the characteristics of the land have been analyzed, a network of straight paths (layons) is traced: this serves as the basis for an initial mapping and allows the field teams to inventory all species with a diameter equal to or greater than 20 cm.
After the tree inventory, the teams also proceed to identify non-timber forest products, which are essential for the lives of local communities.
In total, this inventory covers approximately 1% of the area under study.
Complementary technical, environmental, and social analyses are then carried out in order to draw up the sustainable management plan.
This central document gathers all information on the forest area and, after consultations, projections, and data validation, governs the company’s exploitation and economic activity for a period of approximately thirty years.
