Education
The company provides the school equipment (tables and chairs) for the educational institutions in Bétou and, for several years, has opened its own “Learning Center.”
It participates in the education of indigenous children by supporting the literacy project for indigenous peoples (using the ORA method) promoted by the Catholic Mission and UNICEF at the school in Wongo (25 km from Bétou) and at the school in Bétou, which opened in September 2008.
Training school
The LT Learning Center opened its doors during the 2007/2008 school year.
Its objective is to offer the young people of Bétou vocational training adapted to their environment, enabling them to integrate quickly and effectively into the working world. The center addresses the lack of technical education in the region and, more specifically, the shortage of qualified labor in Bétou, which forces the company to recruit many foreign workers.
The center offers several fields of study: mechanics, carpentry, electricity, welding-plumbing, agro-pastoral, catering-hospitality, and tailoring. All training combines theoretical and practical courses; for trades related to industrial forestry, the practical training takes place directly within the company.
A training restaurant was also inaugurated in June 2008 and is now a benchmark in the department.
